About fisco.pt
fisco.pt is a set of free calculators that show you, in a few minutes, how much tax and social security you pay in Portugal.
What you can do here
- Net salary — gross to net, with IRS withholding, Social Security, meal allowance and IRS Jovem;
- Annual IRS — an estimate of your yearly tax assessment, with deductions, and whether you get a refund;
- Freelance — IRS, Social Security, VAT and withholding for the self-employed;
- IMT — property transfer tax and Stamp Duty when buying a home, including IMT Jovem;
- Tax deadlines — the calendar of the main obligations of the year.
Everything is available in Portuguese and English, alongside guides that explain the rules with examples.
Who we are
fisco.pt is built and maintained by Kodingit, Lda., a Portuguese company. We made it because tax rules change every year and most calculators we found were out of date, unclear about what they calculated, or asked for personal data they did not need.
How the calculations work
The calculators apply the rules published in law, with each year's figures, and show the formula used so you can check the numbers. Our main sources are the IRS Code (CIRS); Despacho 233-A/2026 (2026 withholding tables, Mainland); Despacho 19/2026 (Madeira withholding tables); Law 73-A/2025 (2026 State Budget); the Social Security Contributory Code; the IMT Code (CIMT) and AT Ofício Circulado 40129/2026; the Tax Benefits Statute (EBF); and the 2027 State Budget proposal, used for 2027 simulations, which are always flagged as estimates until the law is passed. The calculation code is covered by automated tests against official and hand-worked examples.
Privacy
Calculations run in your browser: the figures you enter are not sent to any server of ours. We only collect anonymous usage statistics, without cookies and without storing IP addresses. The site shows Google AdSense ads, which may use cookies according to the consent you give. See the privacy policy.
Limitations
Results are informative estimates and do not replace the Tax Authority, Social Security or a certified accountant. Some situations are simplified or not covered, such as income from several countries or very specific regimes. Where a figure is an estimate, the calculator says so. For important decisions, always check with the AT or a professional.
How we keep it up to date
We follow the Diário da República, AT circulars and State Budget proposals. When a table or rule changes, we update the parameters, run the tests and review the affected guides.
